Evoking the grandeur of an old French estate, this verdure wall tapestry depicts a formal garden with fountains, flowering trees, a chateau-castle, and lively birds, framed by deep foliage in layered greens and soft taupes. The scene's quiet movement — wings lifting, water flowing, a scampering spaniel — brings a restful, storybook quality to any setting, from modern interiors to moody dark academia libraries.
The original was woven between 1738 and 1778 in the workshop of Katharine Ghuys, widow of the master weaver Guillaume Werniers — a rare example of a woman-led atelier in 18th-century European textile production. Our print is taken from a high-resolution photograph of that surviving tapestry, so the weave, the pigment, and nearly three centuries of handling all come through in the cloth.
Hang it above a bed as a textile headboard, soften a hallway with heritage character, or use it to anchor a living room infused with layered maximalism. The palette beautifully flatters neutral walls and natural materials like linen, cane, and oak. Printed in Europe on cotton blend or GOTS-certified organic cotton.
Pairs beautifully with cottagecore, dark academia, French country, and grandmillennial interiors.

ABOUT THE PRINT
This is a new reproduction rather than an antique. Because the source is a photograph of the surviving 18th-century textile, softened edges and small irregularities are part of the artwork itself — the record of an object that has been hanging for nearly three hundred years. The larger sizes are made to be read from across a room; up close, what you see is the texture of the original weave. Colors may shift slightly between screen and cloth depending on your monitor.
