This reversible cushion cover pairs two adjacent quadrants of a 1693 celestial atlas — hand-engraved star charts alive with mythological figures. One side shows the summer sky with Hercules kneeling at the centre, the archer Sagittarius drawing his bow, the eagle Aquila in flight, the swan Cygnus, and the lyre Lyra. The reverse shows the southern hemisphere sky with the centaur Centaurus, the indigenous figure Indus, the peacock Pavo, the toucan, and the chamaeleon. Engraved by French Jesuit cartographer Ignace Gaston Pardies in Paris, these charts blend scientific precision with the decorative artistry of the late Baroque era.
Printed on both sides on a premium cotton blend with a hidden zipper closure, this two-sided pillow brings scholarly grandeur to dark academia, library, study, and grandmillennial interiors — perfect on a leather sofa, a reading chair, or layered into a bed of textured neutrals.

ABOUT THE PRINT
This is a new reproduction rather than an antique. The source is a high-resolution photograph of the original artwork, so the patina, texture, and small irregularities of the original are part of the print itself. Colors may shift slightly between screen and cloth depending on your monitor.
